Mesi pari | Even months - la mia alternanza tra lavoro primario e produzione musicale

Avete presente la puntata Beyond The Sea di Black Mirror, in cui due astronauti si trovano in una missione spaziale di lunga durata e fanno ritorno di tanto in tanto a casa per trascorrere del tempo con le proprie famiglie? Ecco, sebbene io non sia un astronauta, e non utilizzi un corpo sintetico come i personaggi di questo episodio della serie quando sono tra le mie mura domestiche, il parallellismo rende molto bene l'idea di quale sia la mia situazione e la mia linea temporale tra cui mi divido costantemente.

Sono ormai decenni che, per necessità del mio lavoro primario, passo metà del mio tempo lontano da casa, normalmente in turnazioni di un mese al lavoro e un mese a casa. Quindi normalmente solo nei mesi pari (feb, apr, giu, ago, ott, dic) posso dedicarmi alle produzioni musicali. Da qui l'idea del titolo di questo paragrafo.

Chi sono? Sono una persona a cui piace la musica, che nel suo piccolo l'ha sempre suonata (voce e chitarra Beerbong, AWCS), che l'ha sempre ascoltata moltissimo, e che da qualche anno a questa parte, essendo diventato tecnico del suono, ha anche iniziato a catturarla e produrla, al meglio delle mie possibilità.

Al secolo Simone Zuin, classe 1976, vivo in provincia di Gorizia (ma solo la metà del mio tempo, ricordate?).

Cosa faccio: principalmente registrazioni e mix. Adoro, collaborare con realtà musicali e gruppi per aiutarli nelle loro produzioni, mentre allo stesso tempo la cosa mi permette di sviluppare un mio portfolio.

Come: ho uno studio mobile, ovvero vengo io da te/voi con tutti i microfoni, aste, schede etc...per registrare la tua/vostra musica. Poi mixo il tutto alla mia postazione home studio, insomma a casa.

Da musicista e cantante, adoro anche partecipare o comparire per qualche featuring nelle produzioni che seguo.

Credo che la produzione musicale porti con sé un'enorme responsabilità. Quando un artista si affida a te per una collaborazione nelle riprese della propria creazione musicale, in realtà ti affida una creatura, che ti chiede di far crescere e sviluppare, per vederla diventare la migliore versione possibile di sè. Vista così, la cosa è dannatamente seria. Diventa quasi una missione. Da musicista che sono a mia volta, sono profondamente consapevole che l'obiettivo di molti artisti è che la propria musica faccia sì che il mondo non sia più uguale a com'era, dopo aver ascoltato la propria musica.

Even Months - My Alternation Between My Primary Job and Music Production

Remember the Black Mirror episode "Beyond the Sea," in which two astronauts are on a long-duration space mission and occasionally return home to spend time with their families? Although I'm not an astronaut, and I don't use a synthetic body like the characters in this episode of the series when I'm at home, the parallelism gives a good idea of ​​my situation and the timeline I'm constantly torn between.

For decades now, due to the demands of my primary job, I've spent half my time away from home, usually on shifts of one month at work and one month at home. So, normally, only in even months (Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, Dec) can I dedicate myself to music production. Hence the title of this paragraph.

Who am I? I'm someone who loves music, who's always played it in my own small way (vocals and guitar, Beerbong, AWCS), who's always listened to it a lot, and who, for a few years now, having become a sound engineer, has also begun capturing and producing it, to the best of my ability.

Aka Simone Zuin, born in 1976, I live in the province of Gorizia (but only half of the time, remember?).

What I do: Mainly recording and mixing. I love collaborating with music realities and groups to help them with their productions, while also allowing me to develop my own portfolio.

How: I have a mobile studio, meaning I come to you with all the microphones, stands, boards, etc. to record your music. Then I mix everything at my home studio—basically, at home.

As a musician and singer, I also love participating or appearing as featured artists on the productions I oversee.

I believe music production comes with a huge responsibility. When an artist entrusts you with a collaboration on the recording of their music, they're actually entrusting you with a creature, one they ask you to nurture and develop, to see it become the best possible version of itself. From that perspective, it's incredibly serious. It almost becomes a mission. As a musician myself, I'm deeply aware that many artists' goal is for their music to make the world never the same again after listening to their music.
