[EN] Studio changes, new gear, and some collabs: my late-October recap
This month, I’ve been working behind the scenes on a few changes in my studio—it feels weird to call it so, but let's go with it!—focusing on reorganizing the space to improve my recording workflow and gear management. I moved my outboard gear from the desk to a side rack on wheels. This allows me to easily disconnect and remove the mobile section, which serves as the audio interface for remote recordings, while keeping the studio outboards fixed in place.
On the new gear front, I’ve spent the last few weeks getting familiar with the Focusrite ISA TWO preamplifier, which recently joined my setup. Plus, after missing out on a couple of deals on Reverb, I finally managed to snag a Sennheiser MD 441-N for my mic locker, which will be used in upcoming sessions for snare, electric guitars, and vocals.
Musically, to my absolute delight, after recording them multiple times, I actually stepped to the other side and played guitar at rehearsal with FLUM, to explore a synergy between their sound and my studio project, AWCS—to be continued.
Since I'm heading out for work again soon, I’ve set a few goals for December when I get back home: aiming to finish a booth under the stairs to record vocals, but especially guitars and bass, and taking a step forward with the acoustic treatment of the main room. This will prepare me to "host" recordings in my own space rather than relying exclusively on mobile recording setups.
Thanks to everyone following this journey. Catch you in December with the next updates!
[IT] Altered By The Weather” dei FLUM è finalmente arrivato tra noi
Sezione Portfolio aggiornata ovviamente!
I FLUM sono Michele, Thomas, Alessandro
[EN] FLUM’s Altered By The Weather is finally here
I am very happy and proud to finally be able to announce publicly that, between late September and early October, two major productions by FLUM officially saw the light of day. First came the single "Predict The Past", paving the way for the album "Altered By The Weather".
I recorded the album myself in their rehearsal room in Tolmezzo (Udine) last December (2025).
The mixing and mastering were finalized around March of this year.
From that point on, the vinyl pressing process, along with securing distribution and industry reviews, set the pace for the release leading up to these past few days, when these tracks are finally free to reach everyone over the airwaves.
What can I say? These releases are deeply important to me for a twofold reason: first, because they mark the beginning of my music recording and production business; and second, because they are out not only on streaming platforms, but also on vinyl—something I could never have imagined achieving, even remotely, just a couple of years ago when I first started my journey as a sound engineer!
And besides, FLUM truly deserve to be heard because they are exquisite musicians, and as I always say, I believe in them.
The record is out on Artificial Ignorance Records. This release is already off to a flying start, with the vinyl distributed by Audioglobe and the album reviewed in issue 503 of Buscadero—featuring, by the way, more than positive feedback on the production itself.
The Portfolio section has, of course, been updated!
FLUM are Michele, Thomas, and Alessandro.
[IT] Registrazioni in casa "Not For Rent”
I Not For Rent sono Marco, Siso, Ricky e Jonny.
[EN] Recording session at Not For Rent’s place
This month, recording also began for a new project by Not For Rent. After a few pre-recording sessions over the summer, on October 17th we recorded the drums and the first of the two guitars in their rehearsal room in Concordia Sagittaria (Pordenone).
For this session, I used a slightly "increased" drum setup compared to the usual—details can be found in the Sessions section.
Once the microphones were positioned around the drum kit and the cables were run to the desk—which looked straight out of a high school final exam oral board—Mr. Jonny Mancini started off with a topic of his choice, before proving to be highly prepared on the rest of the syllabus too :)
Right after that, without respite, without breaks, and without overthinking, we moved on to recording the rhythm guitar parts with Marco, double-tracking everything with two guitars to give us plenty of options later during the mixing stage.
The second guitar, bass, and vocals will instead be recorded and finalized in December, before moving on to mixing and mastering—stages that will feature an exciting new development and collaboration, though I won't reveal the details just yet.
Not For Rent are Marco, Siso, Ricky, and Jonny.
[IT] LW Sonics Studio - Vienna

Over the past few months, I have been approached by Lukas from LW Sonics Studio in Vienna. Initially, Lukas reached out to get to know me via Instagram, asking me to send him some links to my most recent productions, before one day sending me a welcome surprise of his own accord: a video containing a thorough analysis of one of my mixes!
Not only did this flatter me immensely, it also proved his professionalism, made me even more curious, and led me to strengthen our interactions, steering our subsequent conversations and video calls toward potential scenarios and future collaborations.
Lukas is a professional who has been working in this industry since 2009, specializing in alternative rock and heavy music. At his studio, he offers full productions as well as mixing and mastering services. Take a look at his website at this www.lwsonics.com.
The cherry on top is his use of a superlative analog device like the Otari BTR-10 tape machine, a piece of gear that obviously captured my full interest right from the start.
I recommend watching the Urban Sound Studio video on YouTube at this link, in which Todd Urban talks about LW Sonics and describes the importance of using tape in modern productions, and Lukas himself describes his workflow with his Otari.
I am grateful to Lukas for showing interest in me and for getting in touch, and at the same time honored to have the opportunity to draw on his knowledge and collaborate with him in the future—hoping I will live up to it—so stay tuned for upcoming news on this!
